Mighty Malaya Rose

Fundraising For Surgery, Therapies and Equipment

A message from Dan Huggins who is running the South Downs Way 100 miles on 14th June 2025 - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/THE-BIG-ONE2025?utm_medium=FA&utm_source=CL

"To see the hurdles Malaya has had to jump and overcome through huge operations and just everyday life really inspired me. Not the fact that she just had to face and overcome them but mainly the outstanding attitude she took them on with. Never making excuses but taking every fight on with a positive outlook and a determination to overcome unlike anything I have ever seen before.

Malaya has never once moaned to me about how hard her life is, had never made excuses about not being able to do things.

She is achieving so many great things in life.

She is taking on lead singing roles in her local singing group she joined as well as being involved in organizing events at school. Malaya just goes from strength to strength and is the most inspirational person I have ever met.

I would really love to hit a target of £5000 for Malaya to give her much needed funds to help her continue to strive forward and keep winning."

Malaya’s Journey: Continuing the Fight Against Cerebral Palsy

Thanks to the incredible generosity and support we received in 2019, we were able to raise enough funds for Malaya to undergo Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) at Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital. Over the past four years, we’ve stretched those funds far and wide, ensuring Malaya had access to:

Regular physiotherapy sessions.

Mobility aids and specialized equipment.

Opportunities to live as "normally" as possible and embrace childhood to the fullest.

However, the unrelenting challenges of Cerebral Palsy continue to present new obstacles for Malaya, creating an ever-growing need for therapy, surgeries, and advanced care.

Why We Need Your Support Again

With diminishing funds and rising costs for therapy and equipment, we are seeking the help of dedicated individuals like you to provide Malaya with the best care possible.

In May 2023, Malaya underwent major hip surgery and is currently recovering. Though her recovery has been slow, she’s making steady progress towards resuming her daily activities—now with a shiny new metal plate in her hip!

Looking ahead, Malaya will require further surgeries, including a full spinal fusion for Scoliosis, which will involve:

A lengthy recovery process.

Reinforcing her dedicated physiotherapy routine to maintain her progress and mobility.

These medical challenges are immense, but Malaya’s determination shines through every step of the way.

Malaya’s Spirit

Living with Cerebral Palsy is a constant battle, but Malaya faces it all with an incredible attitude. She stays focused on the things she loves most: spending time with friends and family, singing, playing, and embracing every opportunity to explore, learn, and grow.

Her resilience inspires us all, and we’re committed to keeping her smiling and moving forward. With your support, we can ensure she receives the care she needs to continue living her best life.

How You Can Help

Every penny donated is carefully managed and accounted for by the Tree of Hope charity, a non-profit organisation that ensures all funds go directly toward Malaya’s care.

Your donation will help us cover the costs of:

Physiotherapy sessions.

Specialist equipment and mobility aids.

Post-surgery recovery and care.

Additional surgeries and treatments as needed.

Let’s Keep Malaya Smiling 💚

Please, if you can, help support us in giving this amazing, positive young girl the best chance to continue thriving. Every donation—big or small—makes a huge difference in her journey.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. Together, we can help Malaya keep singing, playing, and conquering every challenge that comes her way.

7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs.

If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, then the funds will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objects. If in those circumstances we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives, then any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
