Jasper's Journey

We are raising £4,650 so that Jasper can have a Triride Tribike Hybrid Handbike to attach to his wheelchair.

We are raising £4,650 so that Jasper can have a Triride Tribike Hybrid Handbike, which will attach to his wheelchair.

As many of you will already know, Jasper suffered a spinal stroke at the age of 19 months, which paralysed him from the waist down. Ever since we have been striving as parents to give him access to quality healthcare and rehabilitation, equal education, and access to sport. It is an ongoing battle, and an expensive one -- this bike is just one example.

One thing that parents of children with disabilities and chronic illnesses often mourn is the loss of the things one might have done with their child (not to mention their other children) had life not thrown disability their path. This e-handbike is one example of levelling up this inequality, as it will allow Jasper to go on bike rides with his brother, Elliot, and dad, Felix, independently, which up until now has been impossible.

THE CHALLENGES:

JASPER: Jasper is going to take part in the TCS London Mini Marathon on April 25th! In 2025 Jasper joined the Harlow Wheelchair Racing squad, headed up by Paralympic wheelchair racing champion, coach Richard Chiassaro. Jasper has taken to it like a duck to water, and will be borrowing his coach's world-record breaking racing wheelchair to complete the 1-mile course in the kids event, which runs on the course the day before the main London Marathon.

FELIX: On June 20th Felix is taking part in the longest and most arduous cycle ride of his life -- Chase The Sun. Starting at sunrise and ending at sunset, the 205 mile route runs from the east of England at the Thames estuary, and ends on the west coast of England at Weston-Super-Mare. It's a fitting challenge to raise funds for a handbike for Jasper.

Thank you in advance for supporting Jasper and Felix in this fundraiser. We are hoping that it will be the start of many cycling adventures to come!

7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs.

If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, they will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives. If, in those circumstances, we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child, any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
