Help Oliver Find His Voice

Meet Oliver, our beautiful, funny and affectionate little boy who lives with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Like any parent, we dream of seeing our child happy, confident and able to reach his full potential. However, for Oliver, everyday life comes with challenges that many people never have to think about.

Oliver experiences significant difficulties with speech, communication and social interaction. He is mostly non-verbal and relies heavily on communication aids, symbols and visual support to help him express his wants and needs. Imagine knowing exactly what you want to say but not having the words to say it. This can leave Oliver feeling frustrated, upset and overwhelmed when others cannot understand him.

Despite these challenges, Oliver is an incredibly loving little boy with a wonderful personality. He brings joy to everyone around him with his smile, his sense of humour and his unique way of seeing the world. He loves water play, spending time outdoors, nursery rhymes, cartoons and sensory activities. Watching him enjoy these simple pleasures reminds us every day of how special he is.

As a family, we work hard to support Oliver's development and help him communicate more effectively. He is making progress through specialist education and support, learning to use sounds, symbols and communication boards to express himself. However, his journey is ongoing, and he requires significant support to help him navigate daily life, manage sensory challenges and develop essential communication and independence skills.

Caring for a child with complex additional needs brings emotional, physical and financial challenges. We want to give Oliver every possible opportunity to thrive, build his confidence and access the specialist resources that can make a meaningful difference to his future.

We are therefore raising funds to help provide specialist sensory equipment, communication aids, therapies, educational resources and activities that support Oliver's development and wellbeing. These resources can help him better understand the world around him, communicate his needs, reduce frustration and anxiety, and improve his overall quality of life.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help us move closer to these goals. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing Oliver's story would mean the world to us.

Funds raised will go towards sensory equipment, communication support, specialist therapies, educational resources and activities that help Oliver feel safe, understood, regulated and able to thrive.

7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs.

If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, then the funds will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objects. If in those circumstances we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives, then any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
