💙 Help Jahkyron Take His First Independent Steps 💙
Thank you for visiting our page.
Just four hours after Jahkyron was born, our lives changed forever. Born prematurely at 35 weeks at St Mary’s Hospital, we were filled with joy and excitement. However, within hours, everything changed. He became very unwell and was taken from us without clear answers.
Urgently transferred to Hammersmith Hospital, Jahkyron then spent the first weeks of his life fighting for survival at Great Ormond Street Hospital. As a mum still recovering from birth, I was in complete shock. I couldn’t cry; I kept telling myself, “He will be okay.”
And he was.
After six long weeks across three hospitals, Jahkyron finally returned home to us. But that was only the beginning of his journey.
💙 Jahkyron’s Journey
As Jahkyron grew, it became evident he needed extra support. Unable to sit up and with very low muscle tone, often described as a “floppy baby”, we later discovered he has reduced white matter in his brain. This affected his balance, coordination and strength. He still requires further investigations to determine his overall condition, but he remains stable and under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital, as well as three other hospitals for various other needs throughout most of his life.
Through physiotherapy and sheer determination, Jahkyron gradually built strength, learning to sit, crawl and now take supported steps.
Now seven years old, Jahkyron is a bright, funny, cheeky and determined loving little boy. He recently received a partial diagnosis of ataxic cerebral palsy (GMFCS level 3/4) and asthma, along with other complex needs.
Currently, Jahkyron is still unable to stand or walk independently and struggles with balance. However, he never gives up.
He finds his own way to join in with everything, especially playing with his brothers. His determination inspires us every single day.
💙 How Your Support Will Help
We’ve already adapted our home with a stair lift and an accessible bathroom.
Now we’re raising funds for the next crucial phase of Jahkyron’s journey:
- Ongoing specialist physiotherapy
- Specialist swimming sessions to build strength and coordination
- A specialist wheelchair for independence
- A suitable walker for safe stepping
These are essential for Jahkyron’s growth, independence and reaching his full potential.
💙 Why This Matters
Jahkyron has already overcome so much. Now he needs the right support to continue moving forward. Every donation brings him closer to greater independence.
💙 Thank You
We truly appreciate you reading our story and any support you can offer – whether it’s a donation or sharing. It means the world to our family. 💙
