Grace's Recovery

Grace is a bright, resilient young girl who has faced extraordinary challenges following a serious neurological illness. As a result, she is having to relearn how to walk, talk, and eat — rebuilding the foundations of daily life with quiet courage and determination.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Grace has been able to access life-changing therapies that are not available on the NHS. These include intensive rehabilitation at world-renowned centres such as NAPA (Neurological and Physical Abilitation) Centre, where a team of specialists provide highly targeted neuro-physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy tailored to children with complex neurological needs.

Ongoing support from private neuro-specialists here in the UK — including physiotherapists and therapists trained in brain injury recovery — has also been essential. These services fall outside of standard NHS provision, yet they are crucial to helping Grace improve her mobility, balance, coordination, and communication.

Donations have also helped to provide specialist equipment and therapy tools, as well as access to alternative therapies such as hippotherapy (therapeutic horse riding), which supports both Grace’s physical and emotional recovery.

But therapy is only part of what Grace needs. As she grows, her home environment must evolve with her. Adaptations such as a level-access entrance, an accessible bathroom, and safe spaces to support daily care and therapy at home are vital to preserving her independence and dignity. These changes are costly and not fully funded by public services.

Grace’s progress so far is a powerful reminder of what dedicated therapy and the right support can achieve. With continued funding, she has the best chance of building a life filled with possibility — and joy.

7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs.

If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, they will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives. If, in those circumstances, we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child, any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
