Partner Spotlight: What's new at London Orthotics Consultancy
03 Dec 2025
As part of our service to the families that we support, Tree of Hope have trusted and strong partnerships with service providers across the UK.
Choosing the right supplier for your child’s needs can be a minefield of information or of conflicted thoughts:
- Is this provider right for my child?
- Am I getting value for money?
- Can I trust the supplier to provide what I need?
To ensure that a child and the family are safeguarded and protected correctly, Tree of Hope require suppliers to complete a form in which to adhere to our own standards of practice. This includes checking the DBS status from relevant suppliers and organisations, checking insurance coverage, and ensuring that the partner’s accounts are up to date.
We have some strong partnerships with organisations who have been safely and effectively providing a fantastic service to the children that we support, for many years. One of these organisations is The London Orthotics Consultancy who offer evidence-based, custom orthotics with exceptional results and patient care.
What are Orthotics?
Orthotics are specially designed devices that support, align, or correct the way a child’s feet, legs, or body moves. They are often placed inside shoes (like insoles or customised foot supports), but they can also include braces or splints for ankles, knees, or other parts of the body.
What orthotics do for children:
- Improve balance and stability
- Support proper foot and leg alignment
- Reduce pain caused by poor posture or abnormal walking patterns
- Help children walk, run, and play more comfortably
- Prevent problems from getting worse as they grow
Who orthotics are for:
Orthotics can help children who have:
- Flat feet or high arches
- Growing pains (foot, knee, or leg pain)
- Developmental conditions affecting movement (e.g., cerebral palsy)
What’s new at London Orthotics Consultancy (LOC)?
The London Orthotics Consultancy (LOC) provide Agilik™ smart orthosis which allows powered movement support for children
About Agilik™ smart orthosis
The Agilik™ smart orthosis is a breakthrough device that supports patients with mobility challenges. With intelligent powered knee assistance, it adapts to each patient’s gait, making walking smoother, more efficient, and more natural. By supporting weak muscles, Agilik promotes healthier movement patterns, builds endurance, and drives long-term rehabilitation.
Unlike exoskeletons, which take over movement and are difficult to use outside of controlled environments, the Agilik works with the body. By reinforcing optimal walking patterns, it offers a practical, wearable solution that integrates seamlessly into physiotherapy-led rehabilitation.
Who is the Agilik smart orthosis for?
Agilik may be suitable for individuals with
- muscular dystrophy
- incomplete spinal cord injury
- post-stroke muscle weakness (hemiparesis)
It supports patients weighing between 20 and 125 kg and can be adjusted to fit changing needs, whether that’s ongoing physical development or progress with therapy.
What can it help with
With regular use, the Agilik can:
- Improve walking pattern
- Reduce fatigue and energy use
- Support better posture and balance
- Encourage muscle strength and retraining
- Increase day-to-day independence
It’s also customisable via a smart app, so our orthotists can adjust support levels, monitor usage and tailor movement goals over time.
