They require a multidisciplinary team of experts to ensure the best possible outcome, involving neurosurgery, neurodisability, neurophysiology, paediatric orthopaedics, and specialist physiotherapy.

Harry’s Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust (Harry’s HAT) is a user-led charity, founded by the parents and friends of Harry Coates, a 3-year-old hydro-hero who lives with Hydrocephalus. 

The aim of the charity is to improve the outcome for all children with Hydrocephalus. Currently there are only two treatments for Hydrocephalus, both of which involve invasive and risky brain surgery. This surgery usually involves the insertion of a device called a shunt. Although lifesaving, 50% of all shunts block within the first two years of insertion (resulting in a need for further brain surgery, called a shunt revision). The charity aims to change this – its ultimate goal is improving treatments and options for those with the condition.

Hobbs Rehabilitation covers the south of England and offers specialist physiotherapy along with occupational therapy and speech and language therapy for babies and children of all ages. Hobbs Rehabilitation offers specialist physiotherapy along with occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. We can offer advanced skills in the Bobath concept. 

In addition, we can provide treating clinician reports for case managers and solicitors. We also have a self-contained flat available at Hobbs Southwest for intensive inpatient rehabilitation. Treatments are given in a variety of settings including at home or at school across the south of England.

Hypo Hounds is an organisation which trains dogs to detect and alert to the dangerous changes in their Type 1 Diabetic owner’s blood sugars. 

Hypo Hounds can help prevent potentially life-threatening hypoglycaemic attacks (known as hypos and result from low blood sugar levels) by alerting their owners or their families to these changes in blood sugars. Diabetic alert dogs can also be trained to detect potential episodes of hyperglycaemia (known as hypers) when blood sugar levels are too high.

My AFK provide mobility equipment not available on the NHS and prepare students with learning disabilities for life after school through our accredited education, training, and work experience programmes.
