Our Angel Archer

I am raising funds to buy a trike for Archer and because this will help improve his life

Hi! Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for Archer's Trike. If you don't know us, Archer is 3 years old and has a genetic condition called Angelman Syndrome. This means that he suffers severe global development delays, seizures, and difficulties with his motor skills. We're currently trying to help Archer learn to walk, but this is incredibly difficult at times as he doesn't like his walker and due to his sensory needs can become overwhelmed when you try to support him with changing his positions during physio. Despite this, Archer is one of the happiest, most excitable children you will ever meet. He's like the sunshine after a rainy day, and everyone that gets to know him tells me how privileged they feel when Archer finally embraces them as one of his people. Archer works so hard every day to try and find ways to move around, and we're noticing that the older he gets, the more frustrated he is that he is unable to do this. So we're trying to get more creative with how we do his physio! Recently we attended a trike assessment where they sized Archer for a trike and tried him on it to see if it was something he would get along with. Amazingly he tried pedalling straight away! His legs aren't strong enough to propel him forward yet, however with assistance he manged to get the trike going. The representative called it 'secret physio' as it will improve the strength in his legs and his coordination, plus give him exercise too. I was so amazed at how well he took to it. Unfortunately the Trike isn't funded through the NHS, so this is where we need help. Due to all the adaptions the trike will cost us £1390, which I am unable to afford on my own and which is why I'm asking for your help. Archer struggles to join in with 'normal' experiences due to not being able to move around like other children, but this trike will provide a way for him to join in with his brother while also helping him strengthen muscles to hopefully one day walk. I've included pictures of Archer in the gallery, including on of the trike, so you can see how happy he is!
