Assistance dog for Taylor Bennett

Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page for a Supporting Paws assistance dog for our daughter, Taylor. 

Taylor is 9 years old and the most incredible little girl. Taylor had a rough start in life. 8 hours after her delivery she was rushed to Neonatal ICU and it was confirmed that she had developed Meningitis and Sepsis. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the illnesses, it caused a post fossa bleed on her brain resulting in injury to a large section of her brain. Due to the extent of the brain damage, Taylor was later diagnosed with Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy, Global developmental delay, as well as epilepsy. Yet, no matter her diagnosis, Taylor has never let anything get in her way. She is determined, courageous and her smile could light up any room she enters. 

Due to the nature of her disabilities, Taylor struggles with fine motor skills, which means that she often drops things like her cutlery, the remote control, etc. Taylor is unable to walk unaided and makes use of a wheelchair. This does not stop her sheer determination to walk when in her specialised pacer. 

We are raising this money to be able to provide Taylor with the extra support and companionship that she needs and so rightfully deserves. The dog will be trained specifically to Taylor's needs, ie: picking up objects that she drops, walking beside her wheelchair and will be fully road safety trained, it will also be specifically trained for therapy games to encourage, maintain and enhance Taylor’s communication and fine motor skills.

Taylor recently met the wonderful Cooper from Supporting Paws and she instantly fell inlove. She has already been accepted for a service dog through Supporting Paws and we are very excited to start this journey and get her her assistance dog. We truly appreciate you taking the time to visit her fundraising page and every single penny gets us that much closer to achieving this goal for her.
