An assistance dog for Harry.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Harry is nearly 10years old and was diagnosed with autism just over a year ago.  Harry is an amazing, happy, friendly, polite boy (and pretty gorgeous too but we are biased).

Harry manages exceptionally well most of the time but alongside his autism, he struggles with dyslexia, anxiety and understanding the world around him. He doesn’t always see or anticipate the dangers around him and finds certain situations very overwhelming and actually quite frightening. This results in Harry becoming introverted and wanting to hide away somewhere he feels safe.

To enable Harry to live independently, we came across supporting paws, who train assistance dogs for autistic children to help them live independently.   The puppy will be Harry’s from the moment it’s born but will spend its first year being trained specially for Harry’s needs. Once it is a year old it will come and live with us.  Harry (and us) will be involved in the training and will be assessed alongside the puppy before it comes to stay.  But to be able to to do this, we have to raise the money towards the year long training and we can’t manage this alone.  So this is where you amazing people come in.
