“We’re made to Move” Quest 88

“We’re made to move!” says Rob Henshaw, MD of the ability and mobility aids specialists Quest 88. And getting people moving, regardless of physical ability, has been the overarching aim of this family run organisation since its birth 25 years ago. Starting with tricycles for children with Cerebral Palsy back in 1991, Quest 88 has developed its product offering significantly over the years, to include a wide range of assistive and accessible bikes, trikes, walkers, therapy and rehabilitation equipment. Tree of Hope parent Catherine Ashwell-Lewis used some of the campaign funds raised for her daughter Imogen towards a Quest 88 standing frame, and the results have been phenomenal. “Quest 88 are fantastic! They deliver quickly, give great technical advice and first class customer service. Imogen has progressed so much since she started using the standing frame to stretch out her calf muscles, that we are considering cancelling her upcoming surgery as we feel it may no longer be necessary.”

Quest 88 is also passionate about the use of sport as therapy. Giving children targeted goals that mean something, such as kicking a ball or turning a bicycle pedal, means they are more likely to engage, gain a sense of achievement and have fun! The recently opened ‘Inclusive Cycling Hub’ shop in Shrewsbury represents Quest 88’s commitment to making the sport of cycling possible to everyone, and on the shop floor you will find a mixture of beautiful, gleaming products aimed at both disabled and non-disabled, alike. The location is ideal, nestled between a café, a park for taking models for a test ride and B&B for people travelling long distances. Bev is Mum to 11 year old Dylan, who is very much into sports, and has severe spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. Earlier this year, the family used their Tree of Hope campaign to fund a ‘Race Runner’ or walking bike, made by Quest 88 Bev says. “Dylan is happy and confident on the running bike and participates in a Race Running group every other Sunday” says Bev. “The product is perfect.”
