tommy turner - tommys first steps

Tommy has now also been diagnosed with ataxic cerebral palsy

FOLLOW TOMMY ON HIS FACEBOOK PAGE TOMMYS FIRST STEPS. KEEP UP TO DATE WITH HIS PROGRESS

After a difficult pregnancy Tommy was born at 32 weeks and 3 weeks in the neonatal unit. By the time he was about 9 months old I had realised that something wasn't right, he couldn't sit unsupported, roll over crawl or take any weight on his legs.
He was being monitored by the doctors but then at 10 months old he had a seizure. This then prompted an Mri scan. When the results came back it showed that part of his brain had not developed properly and would not develop any further. This part is what we use to balance and co ordinate ourselves. He has global development delay , hyper mobility, low muscle tone and autism.he also has a problem with his heart which means it beats too fast and irregular and suffers from seizures

He cannot talk and has little communication, he cannot stand, crawl or walk by himself.
he has been having some Physio from the age of 12 months and has made a little progress. He is able to weight bear for a few minutes if supported and with help he can take a few steps using a walking frame. At the moment his only way to get around is by bottom shuffling .

The Physio that is provided for him is very irregular which makes progression difficult. I have found a fantastic local physiotherapist company called kids Physio works and think the treatment they have to offer would really help Tommy to walk. He is under gosh and they r putting him through genetic testing to try and find out if there is a condition that is causing all this and currently don't know if he will ever walk unaided.

he deserves to be able to have every possible help there is to at least get him walking with some sort of aid so he can have some independence. Kids Physio works have fantastic results with the children they work with and I want Tommy to have the same opportunity but it is very expensive to have the intensive therapy he needs. To be able to give this to him would be amazing and to have him up on his feet would change his and our lives.

We would be so so thankful for any help given to try and make this possible for him. Tommy is nearly 4 and is a very happy little boy and loves to play with his cars and trains and loves being outside.

Please help Tommy to take his first steps . The sooner we can raise more funds then Tommy can continue to have more treatment he has made amazing progress but still has such a long journey ahead of him please help him to continue his journey thanks
