Success for Starfish Races!

Relay Race. Starfish Races

On May 15th, we held our very first Starfish Races event raising over an incredible £5000 for Tree of Hope, supporting the families of seriously ill and disabled children all over the UK!

Starfish Races

The races consisted of a marathon, half marathon and 10k Relay race, along the Bexhill seafront. The course stretched along the beautiful Victorian promenade, predominately flat, giving competitors the chance to reach their personal bests.

Runners came from all over the country to participate in the Starfish Races event, which is organised by Tree of Hope’s fundraising team, in association with the Bexhill Runners and Triathletes Club and some prominent Bexhill Volunteers. Tree of Hope trustees gave out medals on the finish line to every runner ‘It was a lovely day and I felt honored to be there. It was a pleasure to be asked to give out the awards’ Kevin Werry, Chairman
Medals. Starfish Races

It was a fantastic family event, aimed at all levels of runners, including children who could participate in the 500 meter race or 1k and 2k. It was extremely successful day, the weather held out and their was a fantastic and friendly atmosphere that came from supporters, participants and of course all the brilliant volunteer marshals who cheered everyone on from start to finish!

The event gave everyone the chance to win, with spot prizes given out to four runners. A huge congratulations to Hakeem, Guy and Jaclyn who won a bottle of champagne, kindly donated by Chapel Down of Tenterden!
