As part of a summer of fun, the Sporting Heroes Lunch in October is rounding off the fundraising events for Tree of Hope Children’s Charity. The events so far have offered something for everyone to get involved in from the Dine and Donate Challenge, Golf Day, Funraisers Dragon Boat Festival culminating in the Sporting Heroes Lunch on Friday 5th October at One Warwick Park, Tunbridge Wells.
The Sporting Heroes Lunch is an opportunity to meet people who have achieved great heights in their sport and have many entertaining stories to tell. This year we have a great rugby legend, Willie John McBride, flying over from Ireland. He played 63 times for Ireland, made 70 appearances for the Lions and played in 17 Lions tests on 5 tours. He captained his country and the Lions and is, arguably, The Greatest British Lion of all time.
We are also proud to have paralympic sportsman, Ross Wilson, supporting the lunch as part of his ongoing support for Tree of Hope. Ross Wilson is a GB Paralympic table tennis player who won bronze medals in the 2012 Games in London and 2016 Games in Rio and has recently won gold in the Commonwealth Games in Australia. His sights are now set on Tokyo in 2020. Even with all the training and competition this involves, Ross took the time and showed generosity in approaching and supporting Tree of Hope by becoming a Patron. He is an engaging individual who has continued to overcome many challenges presented by his medical condition and is keen to help as many children as possible with their ongoing health challenges.
We are delighted to have Chris Cowdrey, Kent and England cricket captain, as our M.C. Chris brings his wit and repartee to the event and helps create an entertaining lunch for all to enjoy. We call it ‘Hilarity for Charity’ – why not book your place to ‘Be a Part of It’. Full details are on the website www.sportingheroeslunch.com. Call 01892 575677 or email info@sportingheroeslunch.com
