Physio and support for Rosalie
Thanks to those who are running the Surrey Half with us and fundraising with us: Chris and Leah East, Jo Viner, Marissa Truglio, Charli Phipps, Michael Duncalfe and Peter Duncalfe.
Rosalie is your typical 4 year old in many ways. She loves people. She loves animals. She loves exploring the world. She laughs a lot. She gets grumpy when she is hungry (like her parents).
Rosalie has Rett Syndrome and this means life for her isn't like every other 4 year old. Communication looks very different for us as she is non-verbal and she is unable to coordinate her muscles to walk at all. Rett Syndrome is a neurological condition brought about by a genetic mutation in the x-chromosome. There is no cure though there is hope gene therapy might make it possible to reverse the condition in the future.
Rosalie currently has very limited physiotherapy through the NHS and some of the provision doesn't take into account newer research for supporting children with Rett Syndrome. We are hoping to raise funds to pay for Rosalie to have CME (Cuevas Medek Exercise) Therapy which has had positive results for children with Rett and even helped some to learn to walk with some assistance.
We hope that through private physio we can help Rosalie learn to use her body in a way that many children would take for granted. Your donations will help us make this a reality.
Thank you for all of your support.
