One Step Beyond!

Hi! This is Lola, our Daughter, she is 12 years old & has Cerebral Palsy, is partially sighted, partially deaf & has Epilepsy. She is unable to stand independently or walk at all, she gets about in a wheelchair.
Lola was accepted for an operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) a life changing procedure, (technical information below!) & while waiting for a date for surgery the Government pulled all funding with immediate effect leaving us devastated & heartbroken for Lola.
The hospital, Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham still offer the surgery for Lola, but we are now in a position where we have to pay ourselves & so the fundraising begins!
Please help us to help Lola change her life for the better, to give her some independence, all she needs is a chance......
SDR, a neurosurgical procedure aimed at reducing spasticity (tight & stiff muscle tone) in the lower limbs. The surgery requires the bones of the spine in the lower back area to be opened to reveal the end of the spinal cord to gain access to the nerve roots. The abnormal nerve roots causing the spasticity are identified by electrical stimulation & are then partially cut.
The SDR surgery aims to achieve long-term reduction in spasticity, improve function & mobility, increase independence, increase range of motion & improve positioning.
If we exceed the target amount or if we do not raise enough funds, or they cannot be used for any other reason, the funds raised will go to the general funds of Tree Of Hope to assist other sick children.
