Jamie's Wish To Walk

Our son Jamie is 3 years old, little brother to our 5 year old daughter Robyn.

In May 2013, Jamie was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy which results in his muscles being very tight in his legs. This means Jamie is unable to walk unaided, he uses his Kaye walker for short distances and also a wheelchair.

Jamie is a very fun loving and determined little boy, he is always smiling and makes everybody laugh.

Jamie is very lucky to have been offered the opportunity to have the SDR operation (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. This is life changing spinal surgery to reduce the spaciticy (tightness) in Jamie's legs, which may allow him to walk independently.

Unfortunatly the NHS are unable to fund Jamie's aftercare and rehabilitation which is just as important as the operation itself, so we have no option other than to fund this privately.

After the operation Jamie will require intense physiotherapy on a daily basis for a minimum of 12 months along with the purchase of specialised equipment. Other therapy would include horse riding, hydrotherapy, swimming, specialised post SDR physio, orthotic appointments and suitable footwear.

To allow this to happen we need to raise £30,000 for Jamie's rehabilitation. THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN. please help us to raise these funds and change Jamie's life and future to make him the independent young boy we know he wants to be, and to help him reach his full potential. To be able to see our gorgeous little boy play independently with his big sister and his other little friends would be the most amazing thing in the world for Jamie and fulfilling our dreams as parents.

Should we exceed the target amount (or if we do not raise enough funds, or if they cannot be used for any other reason) the funds raised will go to the general funds of Tree Of Hope to assist other sick children.
