Jack Gower's wish to walk
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hello everyone my name is Jack and I am 9 years old. I live in Hitchin, Herfordshire. I was born after a very difficult delivery and I have deprived of oxygen which led to me being diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy affects individuals in lots of different ways and no two people are ever the same. The cerebral palsy I have causes the muscles in my legs to be very stiff and tight, which prevents me from walking properly causing me to need to use a walking frame and a wheelchair. As many of you might know a couple of years ago I had a baclofen pump put in my tummy and, after lots of problems I was finally able to take some independent steps but now I am about to venture on a new journey which could change my life forever. I was seen at Great Ormond Street hospital on December 4th 2014 to see if I could have an operation called SDR which will hopefully allow me to walk unaided. After lots of tests the doctors agreed that I was suitable and would apply for funding for the operation on the nhs which is brilliant, however and this is where I need your help the funding for the aftercare is limited. Physiotherapy and exercise post op is very important to re train my muscles to work properly and allow me to walk. To help with this my family are fundraising to finance the best possible aftercare I can have. This will include professional physio and equipment for my home so I can work very hard to achieve my dream of independent walking just like all my friends.
Thank you so much in advanced
Should we exceed the target amount (or if we do not raise enough funds, or if they cannot be used for any other reason) the funds raised will go to the general funds of Tree of Hope to assist other sick children.n
