Imogens Dream <3

Hi, my name is Imogen and my story starts when I was born at 27weeks (13 weeks early) weighing only 1lb 9oz. I was diagnosed with Chronic Lung Disease and Bronchomalacia. This meant that I found it very hard to breathe and was on C-Pap for the first 12 weeks of my life, which was very scary. After a while I had made no progress and my mummy and daddy started to question if there was something wrong with me. I was transferred to Yorkhill Children’s hospital where I unfortunately ended up with pneumonia. This meant that I had to be paralysed and put back onto a ventilator. My mummy and daddy then heard those dreaded words, the doctors told them that I wasn’t going to make it through the night as my organs were going to start shutting down. They spent the day sitting around my incubator talking to me. They told me that I was strong and that everything would be alright. I decided that I would not give up and that I was going to fight for my life; I couldn’t break my mummy’s heart. So to everybody’s amazement my sats started to improve. Despite what the doctors said I was getting better. Over the next few months I got stronger and stronger until I finally managed to get onto low flow oxygen and made it home; six months after I was born.

I have grown strong enough now that I no longer need home oxygen but I do struggle to gain weight. I am around the weight of an average six month old child, even though I am 1 ½ years old. I suffer from developmental delay which means I cannot sit up, stand or walk like any of my friends my age. I also suffer from stiffness in my legs and arms which can make playing with my toys very difficult and frustrating for me. I have been receiving physiotherapy due to my suspected cerebral palsy.

I am now in need of further treatment which is not available on the NHS. My mummy, daddy and I would like your help and support with raising funds to help me to receive ABR therapy. This costs around £6000 per year and would help me to sit up, stand and walk all by myself. This would mean that I could run around and play with my brothers and sister all by myself. This is my story and I would like to run around and play and live happily ever after…
