Give Gracie a Voice
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Gracie is our 11-year-old middle daughter and has recently been diagnosed with a rare genetic syndrome called CFC Syndrome. Gracie has a very severe learning disability, is mostly non-verbal, has epilepsy and walks with the assistance of a walking frame. We would love Gracie to live her best life possible, be healthy, progress cognitively and learn to speak.
Four years ago, we embarked on an intensive brain rehabilitation program with The Family Hope Center (FHC). This international organisation is dedicated to the development of children with special needs and developmental delay. Their Neuroplasticity techniques focus on the cause of Gracie’s problems, the brain rather than the symptoms, like the more traditional therapies.
Appointments with FHC are approximately £4300 and these are recommended six monthly. So far we have seen the team 6 times. At these appointments all aspects of Gracie’s health and abilities are thoroughly assessed by their specialist team. We are then given a tailored therapy, education and nutritional program to carry out at home. We are also recommended pieces of equipment to help her progress. We work 5 hours a day on Gracie’s therapy under FHC’s ongoing mentorship. This is hard work but we’ve had some tremendous results! Here’s just a few:
- The ability to read at a 6 year old level
- Massive improvements in health through nutrition
- Emerging speech – yes it’s coming!
- Massive improvements in communication through sign language
- Daytime Continence
- Massive reduction in sensory processing issues
- Big improvements in behaviour
- Big Improvements in social and emotional development
- More confidence in walking and no more falls!
We would love to keep going with this therapy and continue to fundraise with Tree of Hope to meet our appointment costs.
Tree of Hope reserves to use these funds for any purpose stated in the parents charter, including but not limited to, medical treatment, surgery and therapies and related travel expenses, medical and exercise equipment, childcare, home adaptations and the cost of vehicles designed for the disabled.
