Why I chose this Charity
With all the many worthy charities and trusts that are available to donate to, I have chosen to run the Robin Hood (Nottingham) Half Marathon in September 2011 in aid of the Alzheimers Society for many reasons.
Firstly due to the delibitating effects this disease can have on people, with the progressive nature of the disease causing memory loss, confusion, loss of speech and any form of understanding due to continuous damage occuring to the brain, which causes this progressive disease to hit most people in later life.
Obviously this disease effects thousands of people and any kind of support to help with a clearer understanding and analysis on ways to reduce and/or even prevent this awful disease would help thousands of people with this condition and their families.
Finally the effects this disease can have on family members who witness this disease take hold of their loved ones can also be extremely traumatising, especially when their loved ones are unable to recognise or recollect special and emotional times and events that they have shared together. Not only this, the emotional trauma caused by seeing a loved one with this condition and a sense of hoplessness and inability to help treat the condition also makes this charity one I feel very passionate about!
I do hope you manage to take the time to read through this small write up as to why I am running for this charity, and I hope you can help support me by donating anything you can to help!!
Many thanks for reading!!!
