Emma's Wish - Hull
Hello! My name is Emma and I am a very bright and bubbly 2-year-old. I love nothing more than playing with my friends, particularly with my dolls - my only problem is that my legs don't work properly which means I am unable to stand or walk without the use of my frame which makes pushing my doll's pram impossible.
I was born over 2 months prematurely, which although meant mummy and daddy got extra time with me also meant that I had to spend a long time in special care as I was pretty small and had a few things the doctors wanted to check out before I could be sent home.
I have had regular appointments at the hospital my whole life. When I was 18 months old I had a picture taken of my brain by an MRI scanner which showed that unfortunately there was some damage. This damage causes the muscles in my legs to be very tight and stiff which makes it difficult to stand; this is also painful and really quite tiring. It is called Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. There is an operation called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) which I am told will help with my tightness and with lots more physio can help me hopefully walk on my own! Unfortunately, this operation is not available on the NHS and is quite expensive.
Mummy and daddy are extremely keen to fundraise as much as possible so that I can hopefully have this operation and would be so so grateful if anyone else out there would be able to help too. Thank you for looking at my page, it means more than you could imagine.
