Effie’s Independence
Meet Effie! Effie is an incredibly bright, loving, happy, cheeky and resilient little girl with an immense amount of determination, love of learning, and drive for independence.
Effie is diagnosed with Triplegic Cerebral Palsy, affecting her lower limbs and upper left limb, and ultimately her mobility. Effie strongly relies on various equipment and myself, her mum, to enable her to get around and enjoy all of the things any other 4 year old would. Despite her disability, Effie is continually making strives in all aspects of her development and is progressing all of the time through daily physio and numerous other therapies.
We have created this fundraising page in the hope to attain our own INNOWALK; a remarkable piece of equipment which looks similar to that of a motorised cross trainer. An Innowalk will allow Effie to exercise daily, feel the motion of walking, and build up her muscles and strength to aid in her dream of independence, along with the multitude of other health benefits that come from keeping the body moving in an upright position. After a recent assessment trialling an Innowalk, Effie was able to walk 0.6km on her first go and loved the freedom of movement. As a family we are determined to raise the funds to purchase one for her as we all know how capable she is, and how much she can achieve. Should we be successful, this equipment would grow with her into and throughout adulthood!

Unfortunately the Innowalk is extremely expensive, having been quoted upwards of £33,000.00.  Which is where we are asking for your help, in donations, in sharing our page, and in joining our fundraising campaign.Â
Earlier in the summer Effie completed a two week loan of the Innowalk and managed 28miles in those two weeks! The difference it made to Effie’s strength and hyperextension at her knees in that short amount of time was outstanding! You can find more frequent updates of Effie’s progress over on instagram; https://www.instagram.com/ellenamiddleton/
We have numerous fundraising events planned, please see below for what we have coming up! (We will be updating this page regularly with more details of our fundraisers so please follow along for our journey!)
