Charlie's Journey with Autism and ADHD
Charlie loves to play basketball, football, tennis or anything that involves a ball. He is our amazing 9 year old boy who is a conscientious, intelligent , funny and caring boy. Charlie loves to learn and tries so hard to please others and he always gives his best with his schoolwork especially maths and ICT.Â
Charlie was diagnosed in September 2019 after a very long journey with Autism with a Pathological demand avoidant behaviour, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder and hypermobility. He severely struggles with anxiety, low mood and self esteem and the world around him is a very overwhelming place. Simple things a neurotypical child or person would take for granted may be hugely amplified for him. Charlie needs alot of daily support with tasks that other children his age can do.Â
He is in need of specialist support from an array of services to help him develop his emotional, social, behavioural and communication skills.Â
We are so grateful to have been supported by so many wonderful donations to get him through the assessment journey that he / us so desperately needed to be able to access the system whereby we can get try and get him the right support he needs.Â
However, as we all are aware of NHS funding cuts in many places and services are so hard to access even now despite a diagnosis.Â
We shall be continuing to fundraise to provide Charlie with the following things that he currently really needs;
Occupational Therapy to assist with his high daily sensory needs.Â
Continence specialist help including psychotherapyÂ
An assistance dog to help calm Charlie during sensory overstimulation and when he can have a meltdown. It will help him learn empathy, responsibility and provide a companion he can trust and love.Â
We THANK YOU for your support. It truly means the world to us.Â
