Billy's Steps

Thank you for taking the time to visit Billy's JustGiving page.

Our son Billy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of 1.He is now 3 and unfortunately is still unable to walk unaided. Our aim is toget Billy to walk independently!

We are primarily raising money to enable Billy to continue withhis Physiotherapy as we see it as the key to helping Billy Walk. Billy undergoes intensive Physiotherapy at the Bobath centre in London and at KidsPhysio Works in Colchester, both of which are making a huge difference to hismobility and independence. Billy also needs new equipment and Aids like walking frames, benches, specialist chairs etc all things he uses in Physio on a daily basis.

Billy has also been referred to Great Ormond Street for a newoperation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). The purpose of the SDR operationwould be to remove the spasticity in Billy’s legs in order to promote hismobility. If Billy is considered suitable for the operation, he would need to undergofurther intensive Physiotherapy for a period of at least 2 years after theoperation.

We really hope that Billy will never need the operation, howeverthe truth is we don't know what the future holds for Billy, physiotherapyalone could offer the way forward or alternatively the spasticity in his legscould get worse as he gets older, and therefore the SDR operation could offerhim the only means by which to lead a happy independent life.

Billy is a wonderful little boy and we all desperately want him towalk, and fulfil the simple dream of seeing him running around in the garden andplaying with his twin sister and older brother and sister.

It is a dream–that with your help- we can truly fulfil!

Please help if you can -Love Team Billy Childs xxxxx
