Earlier this year, 8 year old Amy was dangerously ill with an illness called Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis a neurological disorder, which causes inflammation of the brain and spinal cord. She spent over a month in hospital, including time in intensive care on a life support system, unable to move, talk or communicate for almost a week. Her recovery was slow and painful, but she remained very brave while having a variety of treatments and therapies. she was determined to recover and walk out of hospital, and against the odds she almost did! She has started fund raising for the Evelina Children’s hospital who cared for her. While she still has a few residual problems she has returned to school and lives life to the full.
