Rowing across the Channel

I’m rowing across the channel for Tree of Hope because it will help Jemima to walk.

Having a pathological fear and hatred of anything to do with rowing (having been responsible for sinking more boats than a WWII U-boat ace during my all too brief times on the river at Durham), I thought that it would be a really good idea if I rowed across the channel!

At the time of writing and thanks to the vagaries of the French coastguard, I am not sure if I will be rowing from Dover – Calais (20 miles!) or Dunkirk – Ramsgate (40 miles!) as part of an 8 man team in a Cornish gig (think long, thin, open to the elements rowing boat).
