Bexhill Carnival 2001

Date: 28th July 2001

The subject of the float was Alice in Wonderland. Everyone on the float had a great time and it helped that the weather was so good! Most of the costumes were hand made by Carol Rainger with help from Sam Gardner. The lorry was kindly supplied by ABC Transport of Hastings. The crowning glory was that our float came 2nd in our class, which was very pleasing after all the effort put into the project.

Cast of characters: Alice - Joanna Stallard. The Cheshire Cat - Sam Gardner. White Rabbit - Carol Rainger. Mad March Hare - Christine. Mad Hatter - Mike Coxon. Queen of Hearts - Emma Hodges. Caterpillar - Clint Stallard. Flamingo - Paula Hoskins. Knave of Hearts - Tracey Talbot. Door mouse - Georgia Gardner. The following were playing cards: Keri, Karl, Buster, Holly, Zoe, Daniella, Rebecca, Bonnie, Georgia, Greg, Jackie & Chelsea. Many thanks to Mervyn who along with driving the lorry for us, helped to secure the scenery prior to us setting off.

Hooe Michaelmas Fair

Date: 9th September 2001

The Hooe Michaelmas fair was a great success. In total £188-72 was raised. £116-22 from the tombola and general sales and a further £72-50 from the "SOAK THE BLOKE" event, where Clint Stallard was put into stocks (kindly donated for the day by Chantry school - via Brian & Diane Wells) and roundly "pelted" by the general public with wet sponges.

Karen Paraglides for The Tree of Hope

Date: October 2001

Karen Miller met Hibby (our fund raising organiser - now retired) at a craft fair. Fortunately for us, she decided to do something dangerous to raise money for the charity. Fortunately for all - she made it back to earth in one piece. To read the article click below.

Bexhill Carnival 2002

Date: 27th July 2002

What a great day... just like last year the weather was superb. The whole carnival this year had the theme "Golden" - so inital plans, that were reasonably advanced, had to be scrapped and completely re-thought to tie in with the theme. The end result? Well it combined golden angels and as it stated on the side of the float "With Your Help Sick UK Children have a GOLDEN future". Unfortunately, the music was not working on the float, but that did not dampen the atmosphere - that was left to the "super-soaker" water guns that were on the float for drenching the general public along with the ones held by the general public that were used for soaking those on the float.
