Hello my name is Harvey. I am nearly 3 years old and I’m from Co. Down.

I was very keen to come into the world and was born 10 week premature. I spent my first 9 weeks in neonatel care. On the morning mummy and daddy was getting me home the doctors did a routine brain scan and mummy and daddy was told I had suffered from a few bleeds to my brain which lead to brain damage and me being diagnosed with quadraplegia cerebral palsy. This means my four limbs are affected and I find it extremely hard to use them.

I started attending physio, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy straight away along with numerous hospital appointments and most recently orthopaedic care. This is and will be always part of my life.

I am unable to crawl, sit or walk unaided and this makes everyday tasks that are easy for others extremely hard for me to do. I use my wheelchair full-time. I cannot talk but try communicating to mummy and daddy and my big sister using picture cards and photos by eye pointing to an object. I have a multitude of other health issues including visual, feeding and ear problems and need special equipment to sit, stand and use throughout each day. I work very hard at at home with exercises that help strengthen my muscles and help with my mobility and also co-ordination skills.

In spite of my daily challenges, I am a very happy and bubbly little boy and enjoy doing things just like any other child of my age. I love to join in with other children and I’m always smiling. I am a very determined little man and hope that one day I will be able to walk.

Mummy and daddy has set up this page to try raise much needed funds for neurological treatments and equipment that is unavailable for me due to lack in funding through the NHS. By having your support along with family and friends they are trying to give me the best possible chance to make the most of my abilities and to give me as much independence as possible. As a lot of you know special needs equipment comes with a very high price tag and treatments cost around £80-£100 per hour.

We would like to thank everyone in advance and for taking the time to read Harvey’s page and for all your support and kindness so far-no matter what amount is given every penny is hugely appreciated. We will be keeping everyone informed and updated on Harvey’s progress and any fundraising ideas are welcome.

Thank you for taking time to visit my JustGiving page.
