Ella is 5 years old and has an undiagnosed genetic condition.

When Ella was three months old we realised that she wasn't developing in the same way as other children and shortly just before she was one we had the devastating news that her brain was damaged. This meant that she was unlikely to be able to walk or sit unaided or talk.

When  she was two she was diagnosed with a movement disorder called dystonia  which resulted in Ella having a 5 month hospital stay to get her pain under control.

Every day from 5am to midnight, Ella is on medication which is administered to her every few hours via a feeding tube. Despite constant medication she is in a lot of pain.

Needless to say, Ella's life is very hard and she needs us to support her 100%.

Like all kids, Ella continues to grow. She is getting bigger and bigger which is putting more stress on her body and she was recently diagnosed with scoliosis. Unfortunately scoliosis has damaged her spine and Ella currently lacks the strength to hold herself upright.

Fortunately this is something we can fix. We were recently introduced to a piece of technology called the Innowalk (see link for the video)

The device enables Ella to stand unassisted and can help develop her legs, strengthen her bones and increase her body's load-bearing capacity ,as well as help other issues such as improving respiration and aiding her gastrointestinal function and helps stregthen her muscles. Most importantly its great fun!  Just look at the link to see how much Ella loved trying it out.

The Innowalk isn't available on the NHS and it costs around £12,000

We desperately need this device to prevent Ella's scoliosis getting any worse and to help her get more out of life.

We are saving up ourselves, but need to try and find some additional funding to help our little girl. We have already been humbled by the love and support from people we know - Ella has been very lucky in that a close friend has paid for a second skin body splint which helps her spine, supports her posture and improves her core control. The splint will help her when she is using the innowalk.
