Edith's fund

Now 5 years old, our beautiful daughter Edith was born prematurely at 30 weeks.  She spent the first few weeks of her life in the Neo Natal unit at Norwich hospital and there, due to a serious brain injury, she was diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy.  She is growing up to be a bright, positive and delightful young girl.  With support she is able to attend Sheringham primary school which she adores.

Due to her cerebral palsy she is unable to walk or even sit independently.  Recently she had to have an operation on both hips which has left her even more confined to her wheelchair.  She uses a powered chair which has brought a level of independence to her life, we cannot imagine being without it.  However, although the chair is perfect for home and school, there are many places it can't access, especially as we live in the countryside and by the sea.  She longs to be able to go everywhere that her friends and 8 year old brother go.

We are trying to raise the funds to purchase an incredible off road powered chair called the Extreme X8.  This chair can cope with any terrain, we even tested it on Sheringham beach where it managed to climb the shingle bank.  Having it would open Edith's world up dramatically.

The older Edith gets, the more aware she is of how her disability will impact on her life.  We desperately want to be able to offer her every chance of being able to join in with her peers and experience some of the freedom they have.

If we exceed the target amount or we do not raise enough, or if the funds cannot be used for any reason, they will go to the Tree of Hope to help other sick children.

The charity, The Tree of Hope, is helping us by looking after the money that we raise until we are able to buy the wheelchair.
