Donna’s Triathlon for Matilda

Matilda is the daughter of a close family friend. She is 2 years old and earlier this year was diagnosed with Periventricular Leukocemia, a type of brain damage which has caused Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. This means that her legs do not work properly and that she can only walk safely with a walker.

In addition her fine motor skills are not as they should be and her sleep patterns are interrupted because of the resulting leg cramps. She needs a procedure called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. This is available in the USA and we are fundraising to assist with the costs of the operation. We need to raise £60,000.00 – a tall order but we will not rest until we have made it. I know it’s going to be a challenge for me to complete a 1 mile swim, 24 mile bike ride and 6 mile run but I am determined to do so for Matilda.
