Donate to Tree of Hope today so that we can continue to help children

I’m raising money for Tree of Hope because we want to improve and enhance JJ’s quality of life.

So we can look after JJ properly, we are having an extension built to incorporate a wet room and bedroom and enable us to have a useable family lounge again. JJ has been in our lounge in a hospital bed for two years.

Unfortunately due to limitations on the disablities facilities grant we have been left having to fund some of the essential equipment that is needed to fully adapt JJ’s bedroom and wetroom.

We need support  to fund much needed equipment to help her progression; such as, to extension her hoist track, a specialist shower tray (which attaches to the wall for maximum space) and a specialised walker for home use.

As a family this adaptation is critical to enable us to give JJ much needed privacy and also to give us some much needed space to spend quality time together as a family.

From birth JJ was a happy contented child, reaching all milestones expected for her age. She is a pure joy to all who spent time in her company.

Sadly in January 2011 JJ suffered from a severe epileptic seizure which meant she was hospitalised. During the key first few days, during which she was admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, JJ was diagnosed as having Encephalitis which has left her with brain atrophy and has meant that she is no longer able to sit unaided, walk or talk like she used to. She is still the happy child that she was prior to this but is now learning to communicate again via switches and communication aids as well as a few words.

She is trying to learn to crawl now which is an amazing achievement considering all that has happened to her.

It has been but JJ’s smiles have carried us through all this and now we are doing all we can to help keep her smiling and give her all we can!
